Continuing from last issue (Brave and the Bold 10)...

At Edwards Air Force Base, Metamorpho is possessed by Megistus to steal Green Lantern's power battery.

Metamorpho Possessed by Megistus

"Don't go to the light, buddy!  Back away!" yells Rocky, as he charges.  But Meta-Megistus sledgehammers Rocky flat.  And gloats, "I can become a living power ring!"

Ace drives the Galloper straight at Meta-Megistus, who forms a giant hand and smashes the jet through the hanger roof.

"You believe you can beat me because you're not in The Book of Destiny... unpredictable," says the mage.  The truth is, "You don't merit a place in the book because you're insignificant."

"So why bother with us?" snaps Red.

Meta-Megistus is "stockpiling the noise".  Someone in the future may want to know what human beings sounded like.  "The task here is done.  All these years, the Challengers have been living on borrowed time, yes?"  Well..."

"Time's up."

Megistus the Giant

Meta-Megistus swells to giant size, crackling with energy.

Meanwhile, in Metropolis...

"Clark Kent" mangles Steve Lombard - because he's really the evil Ultraman from Earth-3!  They fight, but Ultraman really needs Superman's help.  Mixyezpitelik (the imp from Earth-3's 5th Dimension!) appears to explain.

It's very complicated and involves red kryptonite, but Megistus is drawing a radiation cloud to Earth to mutate every living thing into monsters as some morbid experiment.

Superman gets a painful dose of the cloud, then the imp turns the supermen loose and vanishes.

UMan asks, "Remember when Megistus took refuge inside the Philosopher's Stone and Wonder Woman threw it into the sun?  She played right into his hands."

Megistus's citadel is INSIDE THE SUN!  So the super-guys fly toward it.

Except...  The Challengers watch giant-Metamorpho hurl the green power battery at the sun...

The sun turns green!

... where it whizzes past the supermen...

... and turns the sun GREEN!  Deprived of the yellow sun, the supermen begin to die...

Supermen stranded in space!

Next: The Conclusion!  Starring everyone!

Comments

The story zings along, pulling together loose threads by the ton.  By now, almost everything is revealed.

But the art is awful!  The characters look eerie and inhuman, like pop-eyed cadavers.  Oog!

Wrap-up next issue...  And a huge and terrifying surprise for the Challs!
