Bizarro Comics is a hoot. A framing story, such as it is, tells how Mister Mxyzptlk gets elected leader of his 5th Dimensional home - just in time to meet the challenge of a destroyer from space. Mxy gets to choose a champion for the fight, and naturally screws it up. He accidently picks Bizarro. The freak decides to fight "with comics!" and begins drawing wacky adventures.

Which gets to the real meat of the story, which was to invite dozens of funny-book creators to write short-shorts parodies of their favorite DC characters. Sort of a high-brow Mad Magazine of the DCU. Many laughs ensue, the best probably being, "Letitia Lerner - Superman's Babysitter".

It's nice to see the Challs aren't forgotten. They get a one-pager drawn in a wonderfully cheesy style that shows off the Challs "unknown challenges".

I love the way Red is attacked by a leopard in three out of four panels. And who do they defeat at bowling? The Sea Devils, flippers and all! Thanks, guys.

The original Jack Kirby panel it parodies is below. Page 1 of Issue 1. Closer than you'd guess, eh?
