In the present day, in the JLA satellite, Green Arrow bursts in one Green Lantern and Superman. The story concerns the Manhunter from Mars and others: Superman, Batman, Robin, Flash, Aquaman, Wonder Woman. And others: Roy Raymond, TV Detective; Rip Hunter, Time Master; and Hal Jordan before he became Green Lantern. The story deals with an invasion of White Martians seeking the last Green Martian, Jonn Jonzz. The Challengers answer the call. So do the Blackhawks, Plastic Man, the cowboy Vigilante, Rex the Wonder Dog, Congo Bill and Congorilla, the early Robotman, Jimmy Olsen and Lois Lane. |

The mob splits into teams. The Challs hook up with the Vigilante, Congo Bill with Congorilla in a cage, Lois Lane, and Robotman. (Hardly the Avengers.) They investigate a "Martian sighting" in the Rocky Mountains. So campers saw a man with a ray gun. The heroes rush a figure silhouetted on a mountain crag. Congo Bill sends Congorilla, who gets there first. The golden ape *almost*grabs the flying figure, but he vanishes. Who was that guy? Not a Martian. It "remained a mystery down through the years." Meanwhile, on Rann, Adam Strange tells Alanna his zeta beam was deflected by Sputnik to the Northern Hemisphere, and there was this golden gorilla... The other teams rout the Martians, and all's well. The Challs don't do much except lend support. But with this many high-powered heroes crowding the landscape, who could? |
Comment Note on the cover the Challs wear white-piped uniforms. The interior art shows the piping, but the colorist just filled it in purple. The boys must have broken out their Alpha uniforms to meet the neighbors. |
